Comments from Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory and players Marcus Georges-Hunt and Charles Mitchell. The updated 5 observations story from Tuesday’s loss to Louisville can be read here.

“That was a battle from the get-go. I’m proud of the way our guys competed and played. Unfortunately, when you play Rick (Pitino’s) team, especially this team, you have to perform exceptionally well for 40 minutes, and I thought, first half, they really hurt us on the offensive glass. I thought defensively, they were really, really good, as we were also. But we’ve played three games against them in this league, we’ve played against them two previous times, and every game’s a knockdown, drag-out, physical battle. They just did a little more than we did tonight, and give them credit.” – Brian Gregory

“He did a great job. We’re going to need him for the rest of the year like that, to play with that kind of reckless abandon.” – Gregory on Charles Mitchell

“That’s what they do. We’ve done a good job of handling that (pressure). We didn’t have any (turnovers) in the backcourt. Their pressure really hurt us more in the half-court. You’ve got to be able to make the plays. That’s what they force you to do. They force you to make the plays. And then, when you get open shots, you’ve got to make ’em.” – Gregory

“I had a rough night. A lot of shots weren’t falling. I had a lot of good looks, a couple went in and out. It was just one of those nights where we couldn’t really get it going.” – Marcus Georges-Hunt

“I didn’t realize it until today that this is their last (home) game ever for this season. But to play in the Yum! Center, (which) is a pretty hostile environment, and for us to keep fighting, we did a pretty good job as far as effort, but that’s not good enough. We have to bring something else to the table.” – Georges-Hunt

“I just knew, the way our guards were playing the other guards, that they were going to throw to Onuaku. So I just timed it perfectly. I knew Coach (Gregory) told me to get back (on defense), but in that moment, it’s called playmakers’ mentality. You have to make a play for your team.” – Mitchell on his steal and layup that, with the ensuing free throw, cut the lead to 52-47 with 2:01 remaining.
